"Random Acts of Violence"

Chad P. Morrison, Friday, August 7, 2009

I do not care what you think about America. We are in bad shape. In most societies violence has always existed. It is just that usually people can surmise the reason behind it. For example, it is a bad idea to go to certain neighborhoods, in light of the high drug activity, or the violence that is present there. However, in America, you never know when, where, or why someone may get the urge to just start shooting, and that is a problem unlike any other mankind has ever faced. We have a dark underlying problem in our society. They want you to give until there is nothing left of yourself, and your life, itself, is spent on fruitless endeavors. They want you to give your spirit, your mind, and your body to the system. They need you to believe it is the right thing to do so that everything runs smoothly. Well, it is not running smoothly. We need to awaken, as a nation, to the reality of our lives. We have little, if any freedom, and what freedom we have left, is being sucked dry.

I agree with the general sentiment that Chad is purveying here. Street violence has become a regular occurrence in this country, and even more so, since Chad first wrote his piece. The worst part of it is that the violence is not being instigated by the citizenry, but rather, by agents of the state. Most of the violence is being instigated by the local police officers whose job it is to protect the public from legitimate criminal threats. Instead, those officers are killing innocent civilians, and even worse, many of them are getting away with it. It is a travesty, it is wrong, and it is a miscarriage of justice. Chad is very correct to say that we need to wake the hell up and do something about this atrocious problem that is affecting every segment of society. He is also correct that if we do not wake up and act, this mysterious system that he speaks of is going to take us for everything that we've got, heart, body, mind, and soul. The question is, what is this mysterious system? Ladies and Gentlemen, very simply, it is the Capitalist economic system that enslaves us. This means, then, that the people need to wake up, throw of the chains of wage slavery, take control of the means of production, and then develop a new society based on a resource economy that does not require people to compete for survival. It is truly is that basic. Eliminate the need to compete for survival, and you eliminate the cause of the senseless violence.
